The most anticipated smartphones of 2020
There’s already a flood of rumours and leaks about this year’s set of incoming heavyweights, including the Apple iPhone 12, OnePlus 8, and Google Pixel 5, along with a handful of other intriguing-looking handsets.
Here’s a look at our most-anticipated phones of the year ahead, including links to extensive previews for many of them. Stay tuned, as we’ll be updating this list throughout the year as new phones leak and launch.
Apple iPhone 12
After three versions of the bold and inventive iPhone X design, will 2020 see Apple shake things up? Rumours point to yes, but it’s still very early.
Reports suggest an iPhone 12 that keeps the all-screen face while adopting a flattened metal frame that’s more akin to the classic iPhone 4, not to mention the current iPad Pro. Screen sizes could shift a bit too, going to 5.4in, 6.1in, and 6.7in (as opposed to the 5.8/6.1/6.5in of now).
Huawei P40 Pro
It’s official: Huawei has unveilled its P40 line, which includes the standard P40 model and P40 Pro, as well as a new P40 Pro+.
The standard Huawei P40 has a flat 6.1in 1080p OLED screen, a Kirin 990 5G chip onboard, a triple-camera setup on the back, and 3,800mAh of battery power onboard. It’ll sell for €799 (about £713).
The rumoured launch of the OnePlus 8 draws near, and the leaks are pouring out right about now. Leaker Ishan Agarwal has shared a full look at purported specs for the devices, while OnLeaks has shared a supposedly official render of the OnePlus 8 Pro (shown) and concept renders based on leaked OnePlus 8 data.
It all points to a OnePlus 8 that brings seemingly modest improvements over the OnePlus 7T, with similar specs intact: a 6.55in 1080p 90Hz AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 865 chip, triple-camrea setup, and 4,300mAh battery.
